Glens Falls Has Two Saturday Farmers Markets This Winter. Here's How They Split.

November 5, 2026

This Saturday, November 7, the Glens Falls farmers market becomes two markets. The Glens Falls Farmers' Market Association, which has run the market since 1976, opens its winter season inside the Aviation Mall food court concourse in Queensbury. That same morning, a new operator called Harvest Circle Market holds a ribbon cutting at The ED, 57 South St., the downtown building where the Association's market spent last winter and this past summer. The 50-year name is moving out to Aviation Road. A Saturday market stays downtown, run by a different group, on the block where five storefronts have filled in over the past year.

Same Saturday, two addresses

Both markets open on November 7, and both start at 9 a.m.

Downtown, the clock shifts too. The ED market used to run 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. Under Harvest Circle it opens an hour later and closes an hour later, at 1 p.m., according to The Post-Star. The Association's winter hours at the mall match its winter hours from last season, when it ran 9 a.m. to noon in heated indoor space at The ED starting November 1, 2025.

How the market came to split

In a September 17 message to its community, the Association said its proposal to stay at the Market & Event Center was not selected. A separate LLC, formed in part by two current Association members, was chosen for the location instead. The Association called itself "deeply disappointed" and said it would keep going as a member-led group, adding, "Our location is changing—not our mission, values or our commitment to you."

Aviation Mall is familiar ground for the Association. Its September 11 press release describes the winter season as a return to the mall, following a summer spent celebrating the market's 50th anniversary, and sets a goal of making this its biggest winter market yet.

The choice at The ED came from the building's new managers, who picked Harvest Circle Markets LLC to run the weekly market, The Post-Star reported. The company belongs to Meghan Mattison, Rebecca Breese, and Shannon Onstot. Each brings a link to the regional food economy. Mattison co-owns Grazin' Acres Farm, Breese owns Holly & Vine Farm, and Onstot manages the Taste NY shop at the Adirondacks Welcome Center. In the same article, Ardie Russell, one of The ED's new operators, spoke about the three owners:

"Meghan, Rebecca, and Shannon possess the perfect blend of experience and vision. We are confident they will bring positive energy and fresh, innovative ideas to the space, making the market a standout destination for residents and visitors throughout the year."

The Post-Star also reported that many vendors who already sell at the downtown market are expected to join the new version in November, possibly with some new faces. At a Common Council meeting, Councilman Robert Landry told the owners they were "a great addition to our downtown." Harvest Circle also runs a Sunday market at Clifton Park Center, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., November through March 28, and lists free nonprofit tables, workshops, and monthly events among its plans.

What your market tokens are good for now

Many households keep a few Association market tokens in a drawer, and the split changes where they work. The Association's October 7 notice says its tokens could be spent at The ED through Saturday, October 31. Starting November 7, they are accepted at the Aviation Mall market. The Association says October 31 was the last day to use them downtown and is not an expiration date. The market that continues at The ED is run separately and does not accept Association tokens after October 31.

There is one more date on the mall side. The Town of Queensbury found about a dozen interior maintenance and safety issues at Aviation Mall, including exit signage and fire extinguisher inspections, and set a November 16 deadline to resolve them. Portions of the interior could close if the corrections are not finished, according to the Association's October 29 update. The Association says mall management expects to finish the work and arrange a follow-up inspection before the deadline, and that its November 7 opening remains on schedule.

The block that grew up beside the market

The downtown market matters this winter because of what now stands across from it. The renovated building at 46–56 South St., redeveloped by Chris Patten, had sat vacant for years and now houses five storefronts, the Glens Falls Business Journal reported in August.

At least one of those shops already counts on market traffic. Hometown Shop at 48 South St. opened April 18 and sells paints, wallpaper, home goods, and gifts, and it also houses Vintage Purrfect, a curated vintage clothing business. Owner Kara Magoolaghan told the Business Journal that Saturday mornings are especially busy with crowds coming from the nearby farmers market. Since Harvest Circle plans to run year-round, Saturday foot traffic downtown continues through the cold months rather than leaving with the Association's winter move.

The rest of the block, as the Business Journal described it:

  • Katy's Wine & Whiskey Bar, 46 South St., opened July 11 and is run by co-owners Katy Foster and Bill Dingman with executive chef Colin Miner. Foster described the area's new housing as making it feel like "its own little mini city within a city."
  • Tease Salon and Beauty Bar, 50 South St., moved here after eight years in South Glens Falls. Owner MeLinda Stanley worked with the mayor to extend street parking limits on the block to three hours.
  • Floro's Mercantile, 52 South St., opened in May 2026 in the same footprint where New Way Lunch operated for 86 years. Owner Ali Gazetos Mineo is the great-granddaughter of Floro, who founded New Way Lunch.
  • Judd's Tavern, 54 South St., owned by Judd Gershen, completes the building's lineup.

A Saturday that stays on South Street

The three-hour parking limit and the 1 p.m. market close fit together well for anyone planning a downtown Saturday morning this winter. One way to spend it:

  1. Get to The ED when Harvest Circle opens at 9 a.m., an hour later than the old summer start.
  2. Cross to the 46–56 South St. storefronts. Tease Salon opens at 10 a.m. on Saturdays and stays open until 6 p.m.
  3. Come back for the market's last hour before it closes at 1 p.m.
  4. Return in the evening. Floro's keeps late hours on Fridays and Saturdays, and Katy's is open every day except Sunday.

Two Saturdays this month also bring the Adirondack Thunder to Harding-Mazzotti Arena, the former Cool Insuring Arena, which took its new name on July 24, 2025. The Thunder's home schedule includes Saturday, November 14, and Saturday, November 28, within home stretches of November 13–15 and November 27–29. On those dates, a morning at the market and an evening game can fill the whole day downtown.

What the street is still adding

South Street has more on the way. Corner Pour was approved for the ground floor of 41 South St., the former Sandy's Clam Bar site. Owner and manager Liam O'Mara describes it as a casual neighborhood bar serving beer, wine, and spirits with limited food, eight draft lines, and occasional acoustic performers, The Post-Star reported. It is expected to open in early 2027. The same article lists Katy's, Judd's Tavern, and the earlier Golden Monkey Lounge among the bars that have opened on South Street as a result of renovation work by Patten and Bonacio Construction.

At South and Elm streets, the five-story South Street Apartments building is a 70-unit mixed-income development with SUNY Adirondack named as its planned ground-floor tenant. In October 2025, the Times Union reported completion projected for February 2027.

Both markets will hold their first Saturdays of the new arrangement on November 7. The Association's mall season runs through April 24, 2027, and Harvest Circle plans to keep The ED open every Saturday of the year.
